The following is an extract of some of Hadrat' Shaykh al Islam's delightful words noted from their speech in Mina. This is not a word to word translation but merely an estimated version only. We hope the jist of Hadrat's message is understood. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala accept our good intentions and forgive our errors.
After completing the 'khutbah' sermon, Hadrat's very first words had such an affect on us that to this very day we so distinctly remember and replay them quite vividly in our memories.
[quote.. ]
“I am here in this moment in time not to do a speech but rather sat here to congratulate you, for you are all the guest of The All Merciful The Almighty Lord of all the worlds. And such a guest that you have not come here out of your own will but have been chosen to come here as the invited guest of the Most Merciful. And this theme of inviting The Almighty took from His Beloved Khaleel Hadrat Sayyidina Ibraheem Alayhis Salaam, they raised their voice and invited the people but ultimately it is Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala who sends the sound to your ears and whosoever understood the 'labayk' is present here today.
And as you can all appreciate the mezbaan (host) never looks or questions the position of his guest. Irrespective of whether they are big, small, good or bad the host will rather look at his own means, strength and level of goodwill then he will decide to what capacity and extent he can accommodate and serve his guest. So this is the karam (benevolence) of the Almighty that He has invited us as His guest. And it is not as though He has invited us because we deserved it or due to our distinction and degrees?
Infact people of prestige and high rank are always receiving invitations and are shown respect and recognition in the world. The host likes to invite guests according to his needs and requirements, 'we require an Engineer, a Doctor, a Scholar we need someone who is a specialist in this field, some one who has such capabilities but here the Almighty Allah invites the gunahagaar (sinners and wrongdoers) of the world. There, the professionals are invited and here the sinners are invited. But look further at His Kareemi (generosity)! Why are the gunahagaar invited? Generally the criminals are invited to serve their punishment and to be imprisoned but again look at your Lords Compassion and Mercy for He is inviting His sinful slaves to forgive them! And He is giving us such assurities that by foregoing the trials of Arafat and Muzdalifah you should leave with the belief and such conviction that you will be forgiven and don't ever doubt this fact. For when the Ghafoor ur Raheem The All Forgiving and Most Merciful says He will forgive then without any shadow of doubt He will forgive you.. Now there should be no room for any doubts.
Just think! This is such a place that even the pious and the righteous don't come here as the pious, infact they too come as the gunahagaar wrongdoers of thy Lord for they are well aware that here all the Mercies, Blessings and Bounties of our Creator are for the wrongdoers and transgressors of the world hence they too wish to be counted amongst them. This is the 'karam and inayat' benevolence and bestowal of Allah and such is His Mercy that after successfully completing these trials it is as though you are born today. But do remember one thing, to forgive a wrongdoer is one thing and for the sinner to completely refrain and abstain from committing further sin is another. You made an error and committed sin, He forgave you, but now you need to ensure that His 'karam and Inayat' protects you and stays with you and inorder for this to happen the mistakes and transgression you committed in the past should not be repeated. Whether it is a violation of the Qur'an or Sunnah or the violation of peoples rights. For example if you were previously neglectful of salah then the charge of missing the salah will be forgiven but you will be required to do the 'qaza' make up for all the missed salah otherwise you will be breaching a new error and sin. If you have in the past taken a fellow human beings right then the error for doing so will be forgiven but on your return if you do not give the person his/her right then this will be a new sin on your account. So after having everything forgiven here you return to your homes and the life you had previously should now be a life that is better and beautified.
If you are sincere then people should see the difference in you when you return,' that before you was like this and now you have returned as this!' And this is our responsibility.
But just try to imagine why is there so such Bestowal and Compassion? What is this beauty people see, what good deeds have we really got? When we look deep in our hearts we can't really see any good, infact all we see is faults, errors, sin, darkness and gloom.
So how and why are we then given this certificate of salvation and forgiveness?
Why is this so?
It is because My Lord is fully aware that you are the Ummah that is beloved to His Beloved!! You are the Ummah for whom His Mehboob had so much concerns for hence if Allah forgives you His Beloved will be pleased. It is not because of your a'amal 'good deeds', it is to please the Beloved of Allah whose concern was only his Ummah.
For whom His Beloved continuously shed tears for.
For whom His Beloved would continuously pray for.
For whom His Mehboob was continuously prostrating and standing throughout the night seeking your forgiveness.”
